thing the first: holy shit I love imogen heap. who I'd heard of but never actually listened to until today.

thing the second: Shoebox project. I love it. gives a good name to fanfiction everywhere. Which is quite a feat. Considering that we're talking about fanfiction. Harry potter slash fiction at that. And no matter who you are, if you've been on the internet, you've probably happened upon hpslashfic. and it's probably been bad. Also, refrain from drinking things while reading it. I had water out the nose the other day because of it.

As an aside to my things list,

My foray into slashfic was mostly started by a conversation between myself and yayweredoomed, in which we attempted to have an intellectual conversation about the motivations of slashfic writers. However, having not seriously read any slashfic, we both found ourselves floundering on anything that went beyond 'lolslashfic'. In the interest of not sounding like a complete prat in the future, I figured I ought to at least make an effort to take slashfic seriously. It being a rather large part of internet subculture and blah blah blah, none of you really care BUT I'M GOING TO TELL YOU THE STORY ANYWAYS. So I started with one of the only slash pairings I find at least slightly possible in the scope of canon- Sirius/Remus (The other pairing I find feasible is kirk/spock, but thinking about that does strange things to my childhood...). Anyways. I am surprised to actually find s/r exceedingly cute (AND TRAGIC OMG) and rather enjoyed quite a few fics I stumbled across.

thing the third: Umm. oh yes. I don't think I'll take my laptop with me. I just dread something happening to it. And I know I'll be tempted to be on it all the time. And the whole point of a vacation is to get away from things like the interwebs. I think I'll tell my parents to hide my laptop from me just in case I change my mind. Knowing me, I will... bad bad Jan...
